Leading An Important Cause: Your Nonprofit

Few if any causes is greater than feeding the hungry. Now more than ever, the global economic crisis has caused more and more people to be hungry and starving for food.

Perhaps you will decide to start a food pantry, food for the hungry, meals on wheels or some kind of program to feed the less fortunate. In America people are losing their jobs which mean they will have to decide to drive to the unemployment line or purchase a gallon of milk for their children.

I encourage you to establish a nonprofit organization and make a difference in the lives of the people in your community. If a person doesn't have anything to eat, their lack of nutrition will cause health problems in the future.

This is what you should do to start your nonprofit:

1. Write your mission statement.

2. Write down your objectives and goals for your nonprofit.

3. Hire a professional to lead and help you fill out your business structure.

4. Determine your entity structure for your nonprofit.

5. Secure a EIN number

6. File applicable documentation with the IRS.

7. Apply for free government grant money.
